Douglas Council will not be able to hold its 2020 Bonfire Night fire work display.
Councillor Stephen Pitts said it had been forced to cancel the display due to a lack of viable space as a result of the promenade regeneration works.
Mr Pitts said: ’Alternative locations were considered at length, but none proved suitable in terms of public safety and accessibility, which are paramount for an event of this size and scale, nor could they provide the level of spectacle and quality of display for which the event is well known across the island.’
The council hopes to be able to hold a display in 2021.
