The inaugural running of the Manannan Sheepdog Trials will take place at Bishopscourt Farm, Kirk Michael, on September 25 and 26, courtesy of the Crowe family.
Secretary of the Manannan sheep dog trials committee, Ian Kelly, said: ’The trial has been kindly sponsored by NFU Mutual, and has attracted competitors from all over the United Kingdom including the Isle of Man.
The trial will see between 25 and 30 top-class dogs taking part.
’The two-day trial will be split into two fields.
On the first day the qualifying trial will take place on Saturday in a field adjoining the main road opposite Bishopscourt, then the final will take place on the Sunday in a field further up on Bishopscourt, Farm amid some spectacular scenery.’
The trial will be judged by Norman Christian from Ballavitchel, Crosby.
The event starts at 9.30am.
Admission is free but there will be a collection point for charitable donations. Refreshments will also be available and organisers say that everyone will be made most welcome.
More information will be available on the Manannan Sheepdog Trials page on Facebook.
