A BA flight to London City last night (Tuesday) was diverted to Stansted after the smell of smoke was detected on the flight deck.

The crew of the 50-seat Saab 2000 declared a ’Pan’ emergency to give the aircraft a priority landing.

It landed safely and passengers were transferred by coach to London City airport.

Flight BA3287, which had 46 customers and four crew on board, was operated by Loganair on behalf of British Airways.

A spokesman for BA said: ’We apologise to customers for the disruption to their journey following the diversion of our flight after a smell of smoke was detected in the flight deck.

’Safety is always our top priority, and the flight landed normally.

’We arranged for staff to look after customers and they continued their journey to London City Airport by coach.’
