A foal has been named Fiain (Manx for wild) in a competition run by community project Balley Cashtal Beg.

Florence Edwards won the competition and met the foal at the farm at Ballalough in Castletown where he was born on February 22.

Balley Cashtal Beg - which means Little Castletown - has produced a map (funded by the Arts Council) to guide visitors to the little doors, produced in collaboration with the town’s Craftworks studio.

The idea is that of illustrator Eve Adams who, as a member of the town’s chamber of commerce wanted to attract more people Castletown.

It’s working and 60 people entered the name the foal competition.

More events and stories are planned in future in the meantime maps guiding people - the smaller the better - to the fairy doors are available from the civic centre, railway station or many of the local businesses.
