The troublesome flume at the National Sports Centre (NSC) in Douglas remains closed.

Last month, work began on the closed blue ’fast’ flume - which has been shut since December after a number of injuries were reported on the slide in the run up to Christmas.

While no ambulances were called to the NSC, recommendation was given to one of the injured parties to attend A&E.

The initial work carried out on February 9 and 10 did not mean the closed flume could reopen, and it remains shut to the public.

The NSC project first began in August 2018, with work due to be completed by May 2019.

However, the much anticipated flumes, leisure pool and splash zone only reopened on Tuesday, November 30, last year.

The blue flume was then shut again by Saturday, January 1.

Meaning it was open for a grand total of 32 days.

Sports minister Julie Edge has insisted that taxpayers will not foot the bill for repairing the slide, and any costs incurred will be met by the contractor.
