Details of the costs of sending a four-strong DEFA delegation to a climate change conference at Chatham House in London last month have been revealed following a Freedom of Information request.

DEFA Minister Geoffrey Boot, political member Martyn Perkins, chief executive Richard Lole and ecosytem policy manager Dr Fiona Gell attended the event.

Conference places cost £4,020, flights £461, accommodation £1,072 and expenses of £425 were claimed.

Tynwald has a target to reduce greenhouse gas emission by 80% by 2050.

Attending the conference gave those involved in implementing the Isle of Man climate challenge mitigation strategy ’a unique insight into this rapidly moving field’, says the FoI response.
