A landmark building in Port St Mary is available to purchase for half a million pounds.

The former Isle of Man Bank on the High Street is designated as a mixed-use building made up of combined office/commercial and residential spaces.

The bank first opened in 1874 under Isle of Man Banking Co. It shut about 40 years ago.

The former bank has also branched out into a film career.

The interior was featured in the TV film ’Come Home Charlie and Face Them’ in 1990, during which the bank was robbed.

In more recent times, the bank has doubled as office space and the upper floors have been used for accommodation.

Dean Wood, the agents selling the building, list it as having recently undergone a refit.

It includes a reception area of 165sq.ft, a 500sq.ft rear office, access to a rear enclosed garden and off road parking.

Upstairs, there are two floors currently being used as residential space.

This includes four bedrooms, three of which are en-suite and a main bathroom, which includes separate bath and shower units.

A nod towards the building’s previous use coming from the fire escape that leads to the garden.

The second floor is currently being used as a large dining area with a view overlooking the harbour.

The floor also includes a fitted kitchen, utility area with washing machine, dryer and dishwasher installed.

There is a tenant. However it is not made clear whether that is a commercial or residential arrangement.
