The observatory on the Calf of Man has been given a fresh coat of paint thanks to staff at Thomas Miller.

Staff donated both the decorating supplies and their time to paint the observatory, brightening up the facility for both the wardens and guests.

The eight volunteers painted the outside walls, guest accommodation and the hall and landing area.

Thomas Miller has signed up to the MWT’s corporate membership scheme.

Ian Young, of Thomas Miller, said: ’Our recent trip to the Calf of Man allowed a number of our staff to experience the unique environment that is has to offer.

’In addition to the assistance, we provided at the observatory itself, the opportunity to inspect some of the rare visitors to the island, with the help of the ornithologist, and experience an evening in relative wilderness was something we all enjoyed.’

The Calf of Man is owned by Manx National Heritage and from March to November two wardens, managed by Manx Wildlife Trust, live on the Calf keeping detailed records of bird migration and breeding.

MWT marine officer Lara Howe thanked the team of Thomas Miller volunteers for their support.
