The sixth Commonwealth Games Youth Games takes place in the Bahamas in precisely two months’ time.
The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association last week announced the full team, including officials, for the event which takes place between July 19 and 23.
The eight-strong team of competitors are all aged between 15 and 18 a will contest three sports only, swimming, cycling and athletics.
Competing in the pool will be swimmers Joel Watterson, Kazia Whittaker, Emma Hodgson and Euan MacMurchie.
Thomas Bostock, Will Draper and Tara Ferguson will represent the island in cycling, and runner David Mullarkey will compete in the 1,500m track event.
The young athletes had to meet strict qualification criteria to gain their place on the team.
Officials travelling with the team have now also been named. Rosemary Kinley is appointed team leader, Lee Holland is sport team manager for swimming, former rider Tim Kennaugh for cycling and Steve Partington for athletics.
Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association president, Basil Bielich, commented: ’I would like to congratulate all the competitors who have been selected for the team. Not only is it a fantastic experience for these young athletes to be able to compete at international level but is also a great honour to be representing the Isle of Man.
’I hope they enjoy this amazing event and I’m sure they will do us all proud.’
