The Ramsey branch of the Royal British Legion is seeking 100 people to take part in a fun run to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.

Helen Smith, who is taking the lead in organising the Thank You Run, said: ’The event will start with two minutes’ silence at 11am to say thank you to a generation who served, sacrificed and changed our world. The proceeds from ticket sales and any sponsorship that participants raise will be donated to the Poppy Appeal.’

The branch is also asking for companies to consider sponsoring aspects of the event and for individuals to help with stewarding the route.

’If you can offer help or support in any way please get in touch either via the Facebook group or call on 830332 and leave a message. Someone will call you back,’ said Helen.

The event takes place on Sunday, June 17, at Mooragh Park.
