The Met Office at Ronaldsway said Monday will become increasingly windy as the southerly winds strengthen to become gale force or severe gale force later.
Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected by the evening, with a small risk of 70 to 80 mph, causing travel disruption and possibly some damage.
Very large waves will break onto exposed areas after dark, producing dangerous conditions for a while along parts of the coast.
The winds will start to ease during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
