Game show mania will come to the Isle of Man later this month.

Three classic television gameshows are to be recreated as part of Flashback Friday, in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man.

The event, which has been organised by a group of events management and marketing students at University College Isle of Man, will be held at the Palace Hotel, Douglas, on Friday, March 29,.

One of the students, Mark Halliday, said: ’We have chosen "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", "Catchphrase" and "Name that Tune!" - three exciting gameshows which we believe will provide something for everyone on the night.

’It will be a medley of some of the most famous and loved TV Gameshows and a real blast from the past.

’As part of our degree course, we are arranging the event in its entirety from planning and production to staging and it is funded entirely by donations and voluntary income, so to have the support of the Steam Packet is a big help and we are very grateful for their support.’

The Steam Packet is supporting the event by bringing across two members of a professional gameshow team and interactive gameshow equipment.

There will also be a raffle and hot buffet with all proceeds staying on the island to support the ongoing work of the Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man.

There are currently around 1,300 people with a diagnosis of dementia on the Isle of Man and it is the goal of the society to help every person affected by the disease.

Steam Packet chief executive Mark Woodward said: ’This sounds like it is going to be an extremely entertaining evening and a real trip down memory lane.

’It is a pleasure to assist the students as they raise funds in aid of a very good cause and we wish them every success.’
