The deadline to enter the Manx Blind Welfare Society’s 2020 Coast to Coast Walk is fast approaching.

This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, September 6.

Startubg with a lap of the outside track at the NSC, participants will follow a scenic route to Peel along the old steam railway line and finish in front of the House of Manannan in Peel.

More than 200 people have already signed up.

The deadline on Monday, August 31.

The walk, which is about 12 miles long, will start at 1:30pm with check-in from noon at the NSC. Check-in for the shorter three-mile route will open at 2:45pm at St John’s School car park, with walkers expected to set off at 3.30pm.

Water stations will be available along the route courtesy of Shoprite, Tesco and the Co-op, and all participants will receive a certificate of achievement at the finish.

Manx Blind Welfare Society volunteers’ coordinator and events organiser, Debbie Thomson, said: ’Thanks to the fantastic support of Manx Telecom we’re on track for a record-breaking year. The team can’t stop talking about it and we’re really excited to get our trainers on, get moving and raise some money. If you’re on the fence about taking part, we promise you won’t regret it - come along and enjoy a stretch of your legs and an afternoon admiring the beautiful Manx scenery!’

Cathy Collins, head of marketing communications at Manx Telecom, added: ’We’re delighted to support this fantastic community event for the first time and are really looking forward to the day. Last year more than 350 people took part and over £4,000 was raised for Manx Blind Welfare Society and now we’re ready to help make the 2020 Coast to Coast Walk even bigger and better than before.’

The closing date for entries is Monday, August 31, and the entry fee is £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
