Manx artists have been encouraged to get involved with an online festive project.
The Isle of Man Arts Council are launching its ’Christmas Creatives’ project and are asking for members of the island’s community to send in their own homemade videos that show how they are creatively celebrating and marking the Christmas period.
The videos must be no more than three minutes in length and submitted in landscape MP4 format and must be either original, seasonal, inspirational, educational or interactive.
Participants can include any other arts forms in the videos, such as music, dance, photography, poetry and visual art.
The films will be judged by a panel including members of the arts council and a new video will be uploaded to its website and social media feeds each day in December up to Christmas Eve.
There will be an award of £100 for each video chosen.
The ’Christmas Creatives’ project follows on from the success of the ’Home is Where the Art Is’ initiative, held during May, in the middle of the island’s lockdown, which sought to record and celebrate 31 days of Manx creative talent during isolation.
The project helped to promote and support local artists and the creative industry, as well as provide a much-needed boost to the mental health and well-being of the island’s community during the time.
’This project follows the heartening success and level of engagement which our "Home is where the Art Is" attracted during the Covid lockdown,’ said Marlene Maska MLC, chairman of the Isle of Man Arts Council.
’The resulting videos proved to be truly uplifting to our islanders and the IoMAC are delighted to, once again, reach out to our creative community, young and old, to take part in this exciting project as we approach the season of Advent.
’I feel sure that we will attract a high standard and wide variety of submissions and look forward very much to seeing this project come to fruition.’
Videos can be submitted to iomarts.com
