Get your skates on! The ice skating rink at Tynwald Mills, in St John’s, opened on Saturday for the festive period.

Families flocked to the rink for what has become an annual Christmas tradition for many.

It was announced last month that the Christmas ice rink would go ahead this year despite no final decision being made about its long-term future.

At the time, managing director Stephen Bradley said: ’The planning process regarding the ice rink is still ongoing but, whilst it is still ongoing, the status quo will remain and this year’s Christmas ice rink will go ahead.’

The rink is open every day until January 7 except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
