First Willaston Rainbows, 10th Douglas Brownies and 6th Douglas Guides have raised £267.43 over the past 18 months for the Friends of Sophia Goulden charity.

The charity is campaigning to raise money for a statue of the mother of women’s rights campaigner, Emmeline Pankhurst, to be erected.

Sophia Goulden, nee Craine, was born in Lonan and supported radical reforms.

Her daughter, Emmeline Pankhurst, was at the forefront of the women’s suffrage movement in the UK.
