More than 80 Members of Girlguiding Isle of Man got together to have a virtual camp to enjoy a ’virtual’ campfire with lots of singing.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Leaders all creating their own camp at home.

Some had a tent t in the garden, others a den or blanket fort in the living room.

One of the organisers, Su Simpson, said: ’We all have one thing in common we enjoy being part of Girlguiding Isle of Man and we wanted to do something different to help have a bit of normality in our lives.

’Guiding is such a big part of all our lives and in these times of uncertainty we wanted to offer some Girlguiding fun for the girls and leaders on island.

’Everyone got involved in such a great way with the 20 challenges set and it was lovely to see Rainbows through to Leaders challenging themselves with the same tasks.

’The challenges ranged from setting up their camping area for the night, cooking supper, traditional camp activities, telling jokes, riddles and quizzes, having fun with emojis, and seeing who can get the most items of clothing on at once.’

The island commissioner Karen Walker said: ’It has been a great and very different way to camp - but it was brilliant that we could all meet together and have fun safely in these strange times!’

Girlguiding Isle of Man is still continuing to offer girls various activities even though they are not meeting face to face every week.

Some are holding Zoom meetings onlnie and posting activities on their Facebook groups to keep the girls connected.
