An all-day music marathon will attempt to get off the ground again this weekend.
The 2021 Guitarathon will feature 11 hours of live music, all played to help raise money for charity.
The event, which raises money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, will take place at the Bridge Hotel, in Laxey on Sunday, May 2, and will feature more than 24 local singers, songwriters and acoustic groups performing shorts sets throughout the day.
Solo performers, such as Kieran Ball, Adrian Cowin, Jon Lightfield, Ian Thompson , Aaron Harwood, Eoin Molyneux, John Gregory and Nicki Naden will perform alongside groups such as Evil Wonder, the Bombardiers, Birds and the Beards and Heikki and Marcela.
This is the 10th consecutive Guitarathon and will again be organised by Eugene Wilson, who will open and close the day with a set of his own songs.
He holds the annual Guitarathon to raise money in the memory of his daughter, Lisa, who lost her battle with leukaemia in 2005.
As with many other events due to take place this year, the Guitarathon 2021 has been beset by postponements and rescheduling.
After scrapping the original January date, Eugene reorganised the Guitarathon to go ahead at the end of February.
The day, which was then held at the Railway, in Douglas, did manage to get off to a start, but the events of the day soon overtook things and it was called off after only five acts had performed.
Due to other commitments, Eugene has had to move the event to the new location in Laxey.
The event will be free to attend with donations to the charity gratefully accepted.
More details, along with a full line-up with times for each performer, will be available on the event’s Facebook page closer to the time.
