Manx residents are encouraged to take part in surveys to help scouts design a new strategic plan.

The Scout Association will be conducting research on scouting in the island to help design a new strategy, which will run from 2018 to 2023, and has asked for people aged six and over to have their say.

Guy Thompson, island Scout commissioner, said: ’Scouting is very active on the island and there are many young people and adults involved.

’The movement is just that, it does not stand still and constantly moves to improve in providing the activities and adventures that the young people involved want and need, as well as the necessary skills for life.

’Through these surveys we hope to focus our views on how scouting in the island should develop in line with what young people tell us and also how the public see us.

’With this feedback we can hopefully grow the movement on the island, recruit more essential adult volunteers and train them to provide a programme that is exciting, adventurous and gives our young people the necessary skills which they need to succeed.’

Each survey, which contains about 10 multiple choice questions and an open ended question for general responses, will take around five minutes to complete.

Paper copies of the survey are also available or can be completed over the phone with a member of the association for those who do not have access to the internet or require assistance.

Those who take part have the oppurtunity to enter a prize draw to win up to four £20 amazon vouchers.

Surveys can be accessed via the Manx Scouts website www.manxscouts.com/future or you can contact the survey coordinator Alex Armstrong by phoning 412462.
