All new admissions to Noble’s Hospital are being tested for Covid-19.
Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford confirmed the policy during Saturday’s press briefing.
It had become common for the Minister to provide details on the number of people in hospital awaiting test results, as well as the number of those receiving treatment for Covid-19.
However, at today’s conference, Mr Ashford said that figure was becoming ’redundant’.

He added: ’One of the reasons I’ve generally stopped doing that is we’ve now taken a policy that anyone who gets admitted to Noble’s gets tested regardless of why they’ve been admitted.
’So the number is a false number now because it’s not just people who have been on Covid ward showing symptoms, it includes all patients coming through Noble’s.
’So it’s not a figure that anymore holds particular credence.’
