The Corrin Home’s board of directors have issued a statement saying that they are ’grateful’ that government has committed to keeping the nursing home open for another six months.
Last week during an emergency debate in Tynwald, members backed proposals for the Department of Health and Social Care [DHSC] to enter into talks with the Peel nursing home’s directors to secure the site’s future. Treasury has also pledged funds to help the DHSC come to a solution.
The board said that they are continuing to engage with government and are awaiting their detailed proposal for support, pointing out that none was forthcoming since last week.
The Tynwald motion last week instructs the DHSC to work with the trustees to ensure a minimum notice period of six months for residents.
The home’s board noted however that ’it is not clear at this time how this motion will be implemented in practice’ and that its licence to operate would expire on July 31, and it is without sufficient funding to continue to trade beyond then.
