The number of active coronavirus cases in the island is continuing to rise rapidly.

The latest government figures published today showed the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the island has surpassed 900.

Currently there are 944 active cases.

This has risen from 844 Tuesday, with 185 new cases having been reported in the last 24 hours.

Six of these cases were detected by PCR and 179 by lateral flow test.

Five people are in hospital with the virus - meaning there is an additional case since yesterday.

There are no cases in the ICU.
