A gym in Douglas has closed for today as a precaution following a club member that tested positive for Covid-19.

Carrefour Health Clubs in Wellington Street said they received a call this morning from a club member.

The business stated on their Facebook page: ’The advice we have is to remain open and that the club remains low risk and any close contacts have been identified but as a matter of good practice and precaution we have taken the decision to close the gym for the remainder of today to allow us to carry out a deep clean down of the equipment and steam sanitise all contact points and then to re-open tomorrow as normal.’

Carrefour said that the date and time of the affected members attendance in the club is Wednesday February 17 between 12.20pm – 1.25pm. They added that the member demonstrated good hygiene practices when in the club and cleaned down equipment after each use.

The gym is asking for individuals who are feeling or displaying any symptoms to remain at home and contact 111 for advice.
