Progress seems to be being made to resolve the row about the government’s decision to remove endoscopy services from Ramsey Cottage Hospital.

The Department of Health and Social Care made the decision to centralise the service in Noble’s Hospital to save money and consultants’ time.

The decision provoked an angry response in the north of the island.

But Leonard Singer, the chairman of the Ramsey Cottage Hospital League of Friends and a former MHK for Ramsey, has now issued a statement.

It reads: ’The Ramsey Cottage Hospital League of Friends had a productive meeting recently with the Minister of Health, Kate Beecroft and the chief executive, Dr Malcolm Couch.

’We discussed a framework under which we can work collaboratively together for the future.’
