The island’s first coronavirus victim is recovering well at home and has even been able to work.

Peter Fisher, a senior manager at Capital International, had returned from Alicante, Spain, at the weekend and caught the 11am easyJet flight from Liverpool on Sunday.He told iomtoday: 'I'm feeling fine today, probably the best I have since I came down with it.'It all began on the 13th. I could feel something was not quite right, with a dry cough, but just put it down to coming back from holiday.'His boss Werner Alberts said: ’He had been in a remote village in Spain and got the last flight to leave.

’He returned on Sunday and wasn’t feeling 100%. He was not sure what it was.

’His line manager did a health assessment over the phone. He asked to go into self-isolation and was advised to go for testing.’That testing was carried at the specialised pod at Noble's.Peter, 40, developed a cough and fever while in self-isolation in the garage at home in Douglas. His family have also been in self-isolation.

Mr Alberts said Peter had not gone into work since his return from Spain and checks with colleagues had been carried out to confirm that he had not contacted them outside work.

’I had a conversation with him this morning,' he said.'He’s feeling better and has been able to work.

’He is set up for home working and has been dialing into our daily meetings. He is an athlete and very fit.’Health Minister David Ashford told a press briefing that the patient's condition was defined as 'mild' and he had not required hospital treatment and was self-isolating at home until the symptoms pass.He said there was no evidence of human to human transmission and the patient's family were showing no signs of symptoms.Marathon runner Peter lives in Douglas with his wife, Tina, and two children.Mr Alberts said Capital International had implemented a Cobra-style plan about two and a half weeks ago, with staff who have returned from travelling having to have a health assessment before they can come back to work.
