There have been no new cases of Covid-19 since last week, the government has confirmed.

The last new case of Covid-19, when a teenager tested positive for the virus, was on Wednesday, May 20.

Dr Alex Allinson, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, confirmed that the total number of cases remains at 336, with seven active cases in the island.

He also confirmed that the number of tests taken stands at 4,569 and with 4,544 returned this leaves 25 people awaiting their results.

Dr Allinson said that while some Abbotswood members were being moved from Noble’s Hospital, the number of people in hospital with the virus would be clearer on Tuesday afternoon.

However, he did confirm that there have been no new admissions since the number of people being treated at Noble’s was confirmed to have dropped to two.

Dr Allinson said: ’Covid-19 has served as a remember to how vulnerable an interconnected world is and the important of coordinated action by governments and health services to save life.

’Due to your efforts, we have got past the peak and the number of cases of coronavirus has been suppressed. Our island is now in a much better plan than even two weeks ago.’

Comparatively, Guernsey has had no new cases in over three weeks and Jersey recorded its first new case on Monday having gone four days without a positive test.

It must be remembered that throughout the pandemic, 24 Manx residents have lost their lives to Covid-19.
