People who were booked in for eye tests during the lockdown will need to wait until it's over to be seen.

The Department of Health and Social Care issued advice to opticians across the island to stop appointments with immediate effect.

Gillian Sheard Opticians on Bucks Road, Douglas said via their social media: ‘We are sorry to announce we are now closed in line with government guidelines. Sight tests and contact lens appointments have now ceased.

'In case of emergency eye conditions please contact A&E on 650040.

'If you have an appointment booked with us we are currently working our way through the diary and will be in touch shortly.’

Holmes and Davidson Opticians in Strand Street, Douglas is operating on reduced hours, so anyone who rings up might not answer but will call back the next day. They are also calling people booked in for appointments during lockdown to confirm cancellations.

Collection of spectacles and contact lenses there will be by appointment only.
