Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney has signed a declaration extending the state of emergency.

The period of emergency was due to end at midnight tonight, however Sir Richard has extended that by one month to May 15.

The emergency is due to last for that as long as the ’disease is affecting the island and causing serious damage to human health on the Island and the economic well-being of its inhabitants’.

This proclamation comes into operation at 12.01 am on April 16 and shall continue in operation until midnight on May 15 unless earlier revoked under section 3(3) of the Emergency Powers Act 1936.
