High sided vehicles will be banned from travelling on the Mountain Road ahead of forecast bad weather today.
The ban will come into place between between Barrule Park, Ramsey and the Creg Na Baa from midday today Saturday to 12pm on Sunday.
In response to the weather alerts, DoI’s highway services will have staff on duty at Ellerslie control room overnight Saturday and on Sunday morning.
’In addition to our normal standby staff, we have additional volunteer staff ready to respond to to any storm related calls,’ said a spokesman.
You can contact the team on 850000 or 672000.
After running ahead of the storm, in what could be the last crossing for a couple of days, the overnight ferry from Heysham reportedly problems on arrival at Douglas this morning.
When it docked after a predictably rough crossing, all foot passengers were delayed from disembarking due to a failed gangplank winch.
This made it necessary for all the foot passengers to go down the stairwell to the car deck to be ferried off in a fleet of minibuses.
