For all those budding artists, who may have turned their hand to the creative arts during the past two lockdown periods, it’s worth keeping an eye on dates for an open art competition.

The Hodgson Loom art gallery, at the Laxey Woollen Mills, is hoping to be able to hold its annual open art competition later this month.

The competition, which in normal circumstances would be held at the beginning of each year, welcomes art work from any artist that has been created around the theme of ’eye’.

The work can be created using any medium, with the only stipulation being that the work must be able to fit into the gallery space.

The competition has faced many postponements and delays over the course of the years so far, but this has meant that the deadline for entering and handing in work has been extended once again.

The new revised dates for the competition mean that any work to be entered can be handed in at the gallery on Saturday, April 17, Wednesday 21 and Saturday 24.

The work will then go on display at the gallery throughout May, with the winning pieces chosen by both a secret panel of judges and a public vote.
