Volunteers who help at various motorsport events in the Isle of Man have attended a medical training course.
The participants took part in a four-day EMT (emergency medical technician) refresher course.
They were made up of ’9 crew’ from the Hogg Motorsport Association and three members of the airport’s fire and rescue service.
Together with other training, this helps to give HMA’s unpaid volunteers the necessary credibility to provide pre-hospital immediate care at the numerous motorsport events in the island for which they provide medical and ambulance cover.
HMA thanked St John Ambulance for the use of its premises as the usual venue at The Hoggery in Noble’s Park in Douglas was unusable due to path work next door.
Hogg Motorsport volunteers attend all the car rallies in the Isle of Man, including the Manx National and International rallies. The volunteers will also attend all Isle of Man motorcycle road race events such as the International TT, Manx Grand Prix, Southern 100 and Andreas Racing Association Jurby circuit races as well as Manx Motor Racing Club hill climbs, the Onchan Raceway stock car meetings and Enduro Motorcycle events.
