The Isle of Man is braced for a battering from Storm Barra.
This morning’s Steam Packet sailing from Douglas to Heysham - and its return - have been cancelled.
This afternoon’s service is liable to cancellation or disruption.
Meanwhile, due to the forecast overtopping and severe gale there are three road closures in place.
They include Douglas Promenade from Greensill’s Corner to Port Jack. The Promenade Walkway parking is suspended.
Ramsey: Mooragh and Queen’s Promenades.
Laxey Promenade: Entire length.
The road closures will come into force at noon and last till 4pm.
Motorists should not to park in these areas.
Further closures may be needed throughout the day.
The Met Office has issued two weather warnings.
There is a yellow alert for a severe gale and an amber warning for wave damage and significant coastal overtopping.
The forecast:
A dry start to the day but rain will quickly develop this morning and southeast winds will increase gale or severe gale by with gust to 60mph and perhaps 70mph in exposed places by late morning and through the afternoon before easing during the evening and overnight.
The rain will turn more showery during the afternoon, temperatures no more than 6 or 7C for much of the day.
Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey promenade in particular will be affected by coastal overtopping at high tide (1.20pm).
Fresh west to northwest winds tomorrow and scattered showers.
