The Fire Service were called to rescue a horse which had fallen into a ditch yesterday afternoon.

Douglas station officer Tony Duncan said: ’At 3.02pm yesterday (April 1), the Emergency Services Joint Control Room mobilised fire crews from Douglas station to attend a large animal rescue at land adjacent to Honey Hill, Clypse in Onchan.

’Five-year-old mare Jazz had stumbled into a small ditch and was left distressed due to pressure on her lungs.

’Firefighters assisted Derry Kissack and the horse’s owner Sammy Cattle in its recovery.

’A thank you from the Fire Service goes to Derry for providing essential equipment on scene that reduced the time that Jazz was incapacitated.’
