A delay to the horse tram season has been confirmed by Isle of Man Transport.
The trams were supposed to start rolling on their new tracks from Thursday, April 25.
However, when asked to confirm whether or not the trams would operate on that date, Isle of Man Transport had remained noncommittal.
A spokesman had said: ’The horse tram season will start when new track is in place and training for both staff and horses has been completed.
’A provisional date of April 25 is published at www.rail.im and we continue to work towards providing a service as soon as we are able.’
It has now confirmed that horses will be make their way along the prom from April 25, but it will not be for operating a public service.
A new statement said: ’We now anticipate testing to commence around Thursday, April 25.
’However public service will not commence until the horse training is complete.
’The anticipated end of season date remains November 3 in line with our other heritage railways, but this date remains subject to the progress of the works on the promenade.’
The tram is expected to run from Derby Castle to the Villa Marina and back this year.
