A hose pipe ban comes into effect at midnight tomorrow (Friday).

Manx Utilities is imposing the ban which means residents may face a £2,000 fine if they breach the rules by watering their gardens or their washing cars.

This follows after a long spell of dry weather with The Met Office calling this year’s spring the ’sunniest on record’.

Last month was also named the driest May since 2008 with 301 hours of sunshine recorded.

In 2018, Manx Utilities issued a hosepipe ban in August due to low levels of water.

The full restriction on the use of hopepipes is under Schedule 5, paragraph 20 of The Water Act 1991
