HSBC is this year’s winner of the Annexio Award for Enhancing Wellbeing in the Workplace award at Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards For Excellence.

Jaime Amoedo, head of commercial banking at HSBC in the Isle of Man, collected the award on stage at the Villa Marina this evening (Thursday).

The judges said: ‘A focused seven week campaign designed to make a real impact achieving very high levels of staff involvement.’

The award finalists included Barclays bank, telecoms provider Sure and manufacturing company Swagelok.

In February this year a group of colleagues at HSBC formed a new Wellbeing Team for the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

This was intended to raise awareness and understanding of wellbeing with other employees.

The Wellbeing Team ran a Wellbeing Challenge that looked at physical, mental and financial wellbeing. They used multiple communication channels to engage with staff including a booklet entitled ‘My Wellbeing Journey’ which set out a seven week programme to discover more about health and wellness.

They have an action plan for their next challenge which is based on feedback and results from this one, indicating that they are truly listening to staff and adjusting their processes according to what they hear.
