The people behind a pavilion promoting the Isle of Man at an international festival are looking for sponsors.
The Isle of Man is one of 12 Celtic nations that will take part in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in the Lorient, Brittany, from August 2 to 11.
Representatives of the island have been a part of the festival for 45 years, with Event Management Solutions and a team of volunteers assembling a pavilion that gives 750,000 festival-goers the chance to enjoy typical Manx hospitality and experience an entertainment programme featuring 50 Manx musicians, dancers and artists.
Event Management Solutions is looking for more sponsors to join Culture Vannin, the Isle of Man Arts Council, Visit Isle of Man and Unesco Biosphere Isle of Man as an official pavilion sponsor or partner.
A number of Manx musicians have secured awards at the festival, including Barrule and Ruth Keggin.
This year, Manx harpist Mera Royle, the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Musician of the Year, will join the Mollag Band, and dance group Skeddan Jiarg, who performed at the Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence, on the Isle of Man pavilion stage and at festival events.
At the Manx pavilion Manx food, Bushy’s and Hooded Ram ales and local crafts and products will be sold and there will be a Manx art exhibition.
Two University College Isle of Man students also join the Isle of Man pavilion team work experience.
Isle of Man pavilion organiser Peter Young said: ’Having the chance to spread the word and provide the environment for people to appreciate our island and our performers is simply too good to miss.
’Thanks to the commitment of Culture Vannin and The Arts Council, we can ensure that our island is show cased to many other Celtic nations and beyond.’
