Hello everyone! My name is Lizzie and I’ve been asked to write this week’s article because the humans in my life think I’m so special.

I’ve been at the ManxSPCA since the start of November last year.

I had a bad skin condition and unfortunately my owner wasn’t able to continue giving me the care I needed, and so she gifted me into the cattery.

This is the second time I have lived at the ManxSPCA and so I’m really hoping that my next home is my last one - it’s a bit confusing getting used to new houses and owners!

Not long after I arrived, I became very poorly and had to be rushed to the vets.

I even had to have a blood transfusion with blood donated by a cat, Albus, who belongs to one of the veterinary nurses, and I’m very grateful to him.

It was touch and go for a few weeks, but the medicine I was given worked very well and eventually I was allowed to come back to the cattery’s isolation unit.

The humans at the veterinary surgery were so lovely to me and a lot of them said they wanted to take me home to live with them!

I have a type of blood disorder called immune-mediated haemolytic-anaemia, so I am on long-term medication.

The humans here in the cattery hide it in my food - they think I don’t know it’s there, but I eat it anyway!

I have to go to the vets every couple of months to have a blood sample taken.

I’m usually a good girl when I go and I love seeing the humans there again because they give me lots of cuddles and fuss.

I can’t have my vaccinations done because I’m on long-term medication, and so I shouldn’t live with other cats in my new home in case they make me sick.

I would also prefer to be an indoor cat in case I meet any cats outdoors that may be carrying a disease.

I don’t mind staying indoors because I love being cosy inside with my humans.

I like sitting on warm radiators, as you can see, but I prefer a warm human lap to curl up on.

If my humans are not sitting down for me to cuddle up to, I like to perch on their shoulders so I can see what’s going on.

Sometimes I get a bit too excited and I dribble on them, but they don’t seem to mind!

I am hoping to find my new home soon because I have been in the isolation unit for quite a while now and even though the humans spend lots of time with me and I have toys to play with, I am starting to get a little bored.

I often sit up on the window sill and watch visitors walk past, wondering if one of them might be my new owner.

I can’t be moved to the main cattery because I’m not vaccinated, and so anyone wishing to meet me will have to make arrangements with the cattery team.

You can phone them on 851672 (option two) and leave a message if necessary, or email [email protected].

I am only four years old and so I have a long lifetime ahead of me now that my illness is being properly treated.

The medicine I need is very inexpensive (about £5 per month) and the humans in my life tell me I’m worth every penny.

I just want a special human, or family of humans, to call my own.
