The Met Office has issued the following yellow weather warning for ice from 6pm tonight.

As the evening progresses, showers will become frequent this evening and at first tonight, heavy at times.

These will be rain, hail or sleet at low levels, but snow or hail on high ground. Accumulations are likely on the highest parts, with between three and 10cm possible above about 1,000 feet, with temporary small accumulations down to 500 feet in heavy showers.

The showers will move away later in the night, and as skies become clear icy stretches will readily develop on higher roads, above about 700 feet, this potentially proving to be a significant hazard.

The warning is in place until 11am tomorrow morning.
