An inquest has been opened and adjourned on a TT rider who died after an accident on the approach to the 33rd Milestone on the mountain course.

Alan Gordon Bonner, a 33-year-old plasterer came from County Meath in Ireland. A post mortem report by Dr Ervine Long said he died from head and chest injuries after the accident which happened on June 7 during a practice session.

Coroner John Needham offered his condolences and adjourned the proceedings to resume once enquiries are complete.

Mr Needham also opened and adjourned an inquest on Dutch TT competitor Jochem Van Den Hoek. Mr Van Den Hoek was a 28-year-old bicycle maker. He died from head and abdominal injures in an accident at the 11th Milestone during the Superstock race on Wednesday June 7.

Proceedings were again adjourned pending completion of enquiries.
