An international company based in the Isle of Man has raised £40,000 for a Crossroads Care project which has changed the lives of more than 100 young carers in the island.
Quilter International aimed to donate £10,000 to the charity every year of its three-year fundraising campaign, with every pound donated being match-funded by the savings and investments firm.
It organised various bake sales, dress down days and a family circus fun day in July this year.
The wealth management company has exceeded its goal with four months still to go, having already donated £40,000 to the charity.
All funds raised have gone towards the Crossroads’ Young Carers Project which helps children aged from five to 17 years old who care for relatives.
The money has enabled the charity to introduce two more support groups, one-to-one sessions, take young carers off the waiting list and employ a young carers’ worker.
At the beginning of the initiative, the Crossroads team visited Quilter International’s headquarters in Douglas to explain the challenges faced by young carers. Wendy Ranft-Gerber, communications and community investment manager at Quilter International, said: ’Hearing about real-life experiences gave everyone added motivation to make sure that we achieved our target.’
Jackie Bettridge, chief executive officer of Crossroads, added: ’[The] campaign has had a far-reaching impact and changed lives by allowing us to offer additional services and to extend the support we provide to more young carers.’
’Thank you to everyone who has organised and supported fundraising events over the past three years.’
