The Manx Trinity Academy of Irish Dance launched a website this week in the run up to St Patrick’s Day on Friday.
The school began several years ago under the banner of local performing arts school Theatrix and became independent at the beginning of 2016.
Students have been successful at a number of competitions off island.
ast year they competed in Brighton, Bristol and Dublin with very good results and their next trip will be to Killarney at the end of April.
Manx Trinity is owned by Lynn Dawson whose daughter is one of the longest standing dancers at the school, and teachers Katherine Ash and Amy Carr run classes in Douglas on Thursday evening and Saturday morning. The school is mentored by Michael O’Reilly, 10-times all-Ireland champion who now runs MORE Irish Dance School in Dublin and comes over often to run workshops.
’Manx Trinity is a small school and we are proud of our friendly and welcoming ethos’ says Lynn.
’We consider ourselves a dance family and a win for one is a win for everybody. The website is a work in progress but we hope it will be an opportunity to showcase what our school is doing.’
The dancers are performing this Friday, March 17, at A Taste of Irish at the Manx Legion Club in Market Hill, Douglas, a concert with Irish music and dance in aid of good causes.
Tickets are available on 457826 and food is included, price £10 for adults and £5 for children under 12.
The website is available at manxtrinity.co.uk.
For details of classes ring Lynn on 415730 or e-mail [email protected].
