Competition at Meary Veg has been quite intense since Isle of Man Clay Pigeon Shooting Club members returned to action following the lockdown.
The Ballaneven Side-by-Side championship was held on a Tuesday evening, sponsored by John and Richard Kneen.
A total of 18 competitors took to the stand in near ideal conditions.
The winner with a very fine score of 45 was indeed Richard Kneen, followed by Alan Wade on 42, Steven Craine 41, John Moore, Dave Corlett and junior Arran Wade all on 39.
The Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT league winner a few days later was Mark Riley on 47, with Peter Kelly on 46 and John Moore third on 43.

Next up was the Manx Petroleum’ Olympic Skeet league event which veteran shooter Dave Clague won on 39, with James Bradley second on 38 and Jeff Corkill third on 36.

The last competition of that weekend was the SMP Partners Sporting League with 13 taking part in dry, warm conditions.
Winner on a fine score of 43 was Stan Cross, with son Michael runner-up on 38, followed by Alan Wade and Giulio Fabrizio joint third on 37. Peter Kelly was next on 36, while C class shooter Will Rand rounded out the top-six on 35.

Continuing to catch up on lost shoots, another Tuesday evening saw round three of the Dave and Pam Corlett Pro-Sporting League, again with 16 taking part in near-ideal conditions.
Leader at the halfway stage was Alan Wade with a well shot 24. On 22 were Peter Kelly and the Cross boys - Stan and Michael - with Dave Corlett on 21.
Wade held out over the final 25 to take the win on 45, followed by Corlett and M. Cross joint second on 42.

Round three of the Tower Insurance DTL league was the next Saturday afternoon competition, with 19 taking part in breezy, dry conditions.
Alan Wade once again led at the halfway stage, hitting a 25 straight for 74 points, second-barrelling his last target for an otherwise perfect round. Runner-up on 72 was Mark Riley, with Peter Kelly and Neil Parsons joint third place on 71.
Wade made no mistake in round two, hitting all the targets with his first barrel for a perfect 25/75 and a final score of 50/149. Riley was runner-up on 49/145, followed by Neil Parsons and Peter Kelly on 49/144.

The club hosted the IoM Olympic Skeet Championship last Sunday, sponsored by Sadler Agricultural Supplies. It saw a field of 13 shooting in wet and windy conditions.
Leader after the opening round was junior Ted Davis with 18, followed by James Bradley and the father and son Cross pairing on 17. Jeff Corkill and John Moore were on 16.
Deteriorating weather made the possibility of producing good scores very difficult, but Bradley managed a 21 to lead on 38. Next on 34 were M. Cross and Moore, with Davis and Parsons on 33.
Bradley remained four shots ahead after three stands on 55, followed by M. Cross and Parsons on 51.
The fourth and final round saw Dave Clague hit the best round of the day with a 22 to finish in third place on a total of 70. Michael Cross also got into the 20s, scoring 20 to finish second on 71 to take the junior prize sponsored by Neil Parsons and his own father Stan Cross.
But the IoM Olympic Skeet champion for 2020 is James Simpson with a points’ tally of 72. Well done to him.

l Tomorrow, Saturday, sees the next round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT league and the Manx Petroleum Olympic Skeet League.
On Sunday morning is the next round of the Pam and Dave Corlett Pro Sporting League, followed by the latest SMP Partners Sporting League event in the afternoon.
Bank Holiday Monday sees the Cross Doubles, sponsored by the Cross family. This is a phone-in entries shoot, so please contact Peter or Stan in advance.
