I would like to provide a differing opinion to that of some government sponsored media news sites, about the story of low unemployment on this island.

Over the last 18 months, I have not found the economic situation to be very favourable to earnest job seekers.

Over the last 18 months, I have applied for over 160 jobs, all well within my skills set.

Most applications were not even replied to. How many people know that this is actually going on?

I am not alone and have two close friends in a similar position.

They’ve both worked for 30 years and now cannot get work. Nobody seems able to actually help them, not even job centre advisors.

So why is it that the government peddles the myth of thousands of jobs but no one to fill them?

Also, government policy deems it fit to penalise job seekers, like criminals if they fail to find work after a year.

It seems to be attributed to the myth that job seekers are too comfortable on 50 quid a week, and need to be forced out of their ‘laziness’ to find work. I’d like policy-makers to try living on it. I’ll bet Channel 4 would be pleased to film it.

In conclusion, the Department of Economic Development and the Job Centre need to concentrate on decent, Manx-born people, who need to earn a living.

Opportunities need to be fairer, and not pander to those controlling the narcissistic, self-absorbed jobs market.

Give ordinary people genuine help to achieve the chance of straight forward, honest employment.

Name and address supplied

Having received an official form in the post on Friday relating to the number and names of eligible persons beneath this roof who can be registered for all and sundry, including jury duty etc, I noticed that in true Manx government style, it was accompanied with the usual threats of fines and/or imprisonment if not complied with or completed.

I am stunned at just how much further and further this island is being dragged back into the dark ages by what I allege to be a government, void of any progressive concepts, who feel their only means of successful leadership is determined by draconian laws and threats associated thereto against their own people.

A government, hell-bent on self-protectionism, who believe that instilling tyrannical fear within the population, will have the desired controlling affect they appear to so desperately try and cling on to.

One only has to look around to see the business decline, corporate protectionism, exodus of skills and youth from this island and the hidden small print regulations associated with luring expertise from abroad, to see that the government of the day is and always was and will remain, the wrong choice.

A little like playing the race card, in the absence of reasonable argument, the Manx government and the ‘frozen chosen’ will have only one reply in denial to its seemingly endless string of failures. ‘You Don’t Like It? Leave!’

Well actually, no, I won’t!

Firstly, I was born here and secondly, I’m blessed in knowing that there are those who too think like I do and love this island enough to try and rescue it from the rot and decline this current dictatorship, whose repressive policies, laws and even human rights violations, I allege wouldn’t be out of place under scrutiny and questioning in the International Criminal Court.

Let me know Manx government if you need a few lessons in etiquette and people skills. Perhaps too, consider stepping into and facing the 21st century, where your current thinking is received with the contempt it richly deserves.

Thank you for the article school children given book that asks, ‘How Do You Live Without a God?’ We are saddened by the statement that this book is being allowed by the Isle of Man education authority to be put in primary schools – Why?

This kind of free thinking and implementation brings nothing but death; however, belief in the Lord God of heaven and earth brings life – life in all its fullness.

Pollution of young children’s minds can damage the innocency of young children as to their thinking, attitude and behaviour, for this Greek way of deceptive free thinking leads to despair and hopelessness.

The Word of God says , ‘see to it that no one take you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ (Colossians Ch 2, V.8)’.

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ brings, life, love, joy and peace, whereas this free thinking humanistic attitude can only bring death.
