Households that have not yet completed their 2026 Census have until November 19 to submit their returns or risk further action, the Census Office has warned.
Every household on the Isle of Man is legally required to complete a Census form under the Census Act 1929, and failure to comply may result in enforcement proceedings and a financial penalty.
The Census Office has confirmed that 91% of forms have been completed since Census Night on April 26.
Non-compliance letters have now been issued to households with outstanding returns, explaining the need to take immediate action.
Any cases that remain unresolved after the November 19 deadline will be reviewed, taking into account the notices issued, attempts to contact the household and the support offered.
The information collected through the Census provides data about the island’s population and communities, helping inform decisions about public services including healthcare, education, housing and transport.
The Census Office is continuing to offer assistance to anyone who needs help completing their return.
Households can complete the form securely online using a phone, tablet or computer. Returns can also be submitted by telephone or on paper, or with assistance from a Census Field Officer.
Anyone who receives a non-compliance letter but has already completed their return, or believes the letter has been sent in error, is asked to contact the Census team.
The Census Office can be contacted on 685700 from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm.
Householders can also visit the office at Customs House in Douglas between 9am and 4pm to return a form or seek assistance.
