Look out for Isle of Man Meats’ new truck driving around the island.

To increase their capacity for deliveries to local butchers shops, convenience stores and supermarkets that sell beef, lamb and pork from Manx farms, the company has purchased a DAF truck decked out in Isle of Man Meats branding.

The company also reports seeing an encouraging rise in the sale of Manx meat to local consumers during the last few months.

Phil Parsons, plant director at Isle of Man Meats, said: ’Recent events have shown that the Isle of Man is strongest when we all work together, so we need to keep encouraging consumers to carry on thinking and buying local.

’There’s no doubt that the last few months have been a very challenging time for all businesses on the island, but there are some positives which we can draw on too. A great example is how Manx shoppers have responded to our #MakeSureItsManx campaign.

’The increase in demand for locally-produced meat has been very welcome and we’ve had lots of positive feedback which shows an increase in the number of shoppers on the island who have discovered the benefits of buying local for the first time.

’We are already following a strategy to ensure that this local market growth continues in the long-term, and part of that strategy means making sure we have the delivery capacity we need to meet current and future demand.’

Last year Isle of Man Meats announced a three-year partnership with Trade Distribution Limited which supplied two dedicated Isle of Man Meats trailers, plus a refrigerated ’hanging meat’ trailer.

All three are branded with the Isle of Man Meats logo. The partnership plays a significant role in Isle of Man Meats’ strategy to secure new business in the UK.

Isle of Man Meats’ beef, lamb and pork are available from participating butchers’ shops, convenience stores, and supermarkets island-wide.
