It was the Isle of Man Bank Cup competition, with the theme of Manx ruins.
We were joined by a very appropriate judge for the evening, Ray Kelly, who has written two books on Manx tholtans.
Ray has judged for us previously and again it proved to be a very interesting night.
Ray provided lots of information about the images provided and on the odd occasion was so engrossed in sharing his knowledge of these old buildings that he forgot to provide comments on the images.
He will be joining us again on April 18 to talk about Manx tholtans, so that will be another great night to look forward to.
The competition was broken down into colour and black and white, without the usual skill categories with an overall winner receiving the coveted Isle of Man Bank Cup Trophy.
The first was the black and white category with a great sleection of images taken all over the island.
The winner was Jeremy Broome-Smith with A Hidden Place, taken at Glen Dhoo.
The second category again provided a great selection of images; the majority were of tholtans but Barry Murphey’s image of the Groudle Glen water wheel provided a different perspective.
The winner was Chris Blyth with an image of Killabregga in Sulby.
The overall winner and receiver of the Isle of Man Bank Cup was Jeremey Broome-Smith with his black and white image at Glen Dhoo.
The reminder of the evening was focused around discussions about the programme of events and competitions for next year.
The next meeting is Thursday, April 12, at Thie Ellyn, the Art’s Society Building in Withington Road, Douglas. Meetings start at 7.30pm.
This will be the judging for the annual competition prints and the disposable camera competition.
Club nights are open to the public and everyone is very welcome to come along.
