The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wintry showers and ice.
The forecast:
Rather cold and fairly bright today with sunny intervals developing and just isolated wintry showers. Highest temperature only about 6°C, and feeling even colder in the fresh or strong westerly winds.
Becoming milder overnight into Saturday as wet and windy weather arrives from the Atlantic, the rain turning heavy at times but then clearing to just a few showers during tomorrow morning as a strong south-southwest wind veer to a mainly fresh westerly and brings brighter intervals. Temperatures up to 10°C at best.
Mostly dry on Sunday although often rather cloudy, with a stiff west wind slowly moderating; top temperature around 9°C.
