A charity is to hold a James Bond-themed night to raise money.
Manx Blind Welfare Society’s summer ball will see the red carpet rolled out ’For Our Eyes Only’ at Woodbourne House in Douglas on Saturday, June 29.
The black-tie event, sponsored by Patricia Wild Opticians, includes a three-course dinner, music from local band Retrospect, an auction and raffle to raise much-needed funds for the charity.
MBWS volunteers’ coordinator and events organiser Debbie Thomson said: ’We are so excited and looking forward to what should be a glamorous occasion.
’There’s been a great response since we put tickets on sale and after the success of our Masquerade Ball last summer, it would be wonderful to see a full Woodbourne House once again. We are very grateful to Patricia Wild for its generosity and support, as well as all those who have provided raffle prizes.’
The society, which provides support and services to almost 600 blind and visually impaired people in the island, is run by a small team of staff and more than 200 dedicated volunteers, and relies entirely upon fundraising, donations and legacies.
Facilities at Corrin Court, Heywood Avenue, Onchan include a talking book library, a recording studio producing a weekly news service, computer training room, specialist equipment room and a dining and social room.
Tickets cost £50 (tables of 10 can also be bought) and are available by contacting Manx Blind Welfare Society via email: [email protected], or by calling 674727.
