Joining a choir is good for you.
That’s what members of the Encore Choir believe.
They are to stage an afternoon tea and entertainment recruitment event at Union Mills Methodist Hall on October 20 from 3pm.
The joint secretaries of the choirt, Keith and Marion Teare, said: ’We would like to increase the numbers of those singing with our community choir and this should prove a very pleasant way to do it.
’There will be entertainment as well as a lovely afternoon tea and there will be a chance to sing along with the choir, too.’
The musical director is Elaine Christian MBE and Viktoria Halsall is the accompanist.
Keith and Marion added; ’Elaine would tell you, with some confidence, "If you would like to celebrate more birthdays, Join a Choir!"
’One of our most enthusiastic choir members recently celebrated her 89th birthday, so there’s no doubt that singing in a choir is good for your health!
’We are hoping to see quite a lot of people there who feel that they are still "Friends of Encore", people who used to sing with us but who are unable to join us any more.
’But, most of all, we would like to have new members singing with us.’
